When we talk about newsroom diversity, this is why. Fundamental misunderstanding of what شهيد or martyr means in Palestinian and in fact Arab culture. This is also why we need to talk about intersectionality, because PoC that are part of one community cannot speak for all minoritized groups.

The Arab American vote is spread out across several key states incl. PA, MN, MI. The white supremacist history that informed the classification of Arabs as white continues to render the group invisible, limiting systematic polling of this voting block. Still, it’s impact can be felt.

I have so much compassion for Jewish people who are afraid of any protests that call for a free Palestine. To them, the disagreement on this issue echoes the famous quote by James Baldwin on disagreement /1
