In the case of a translated TTRPG sourcebook, I think localisation is nice, but including a dictionary that maps every translation to its original name is a must.

I'm currently running a Wildemount campaign and I've taken to translating most of the obviously-english place names. My general approach is that other languages exist (and in Wildemount's case, can be mapped to in-world languages, i.e. Zemnian=German), but that our game language maps to "Common". 2/

I'm firmly in the localised camp myself! There are many English sounds that don't exist in French, and when pronouncing an English name, you can either pronounce it Frenchly (horrible) or Englishly (utterly breaks sentence flow and immersion). (1/)
