This is mid-80s US data - old, but suggestive, esp with Starmer seeking to join his new European arms race with his growth narrative. That is, he wants us to believe that diverting funding from public services to defence is jobtastic. I'm not sure it's the finest job creation strategy available.

Underlying Netanyahu's ethnic cleansing of Gaza - as has been often noted by commentators - is the fact that when it stops, he'll lose office, and a legal process will begin that's likely to land him in jail. So the sound of the bombs can never stop. Unless Israelis remove him from office.
