Ideas control the world. No half measures.
Expanding the House is important and should be done. It does not change the math in the Electoral College. It just means there are more votes. They are still distributed to the states in the same proportions and it leads to the same outcomes.

uhhhh, Jefferson was in France during the convention. He didn’t have anything to do with it.

Alright, I give you permission to live a little. Go make use of it. You live in Texas after all.

sure, but if someone called you up and said, “Raffi, I just bought a new ATV. Wanna come ride it?”

I mean, you’d go, right? Wouldn’t you want to find out if it’s fun?

Absolutely. NYC politics are often Byzantine. That’s how you get de Blasio, eg, and that’s why it’s so refreshing to have Mamdani cut down the establishment. it’s also why no NYC mayor will ever be president. The politics of the city do not extrapolate to the country as a whole.

Moonrise Kingdom is fantastic. My personal favorite is The Life Aquatic. I was surprised by (and enjoyed) Asteroid City. It’s funny that Jason Schwartzman has done this long enough to go from playing the child unable to connect with his distant father to playing the distant father.

But when the framers were talking about an excess of democracy, most of that was solved in the Art. 1, Sec. 10 limits on state power, not the structural elements related to the way federal law is created. The framers weren’t concerned about federal law because it didn’t really exist.

what theory though? The const. gets described as anti democratic sometimes but that’s always been a confusion about what the framers were trying to accomplish. The const. is undoubtedly more democratic than the Articles. It has the senate, of course, and the veto, sure. …

Ah, man, I feel like everyone should rewatch Election, the 1999 movie with Reese Witherspoon and Matthew Broderick. Definitely continues to feel relevant.

Same, Election Day polling location is literally in the next building for me. No clue where the early voting site is.

Early voting is ahead of schedule, though? I mean, tomorrow is Election Day.
