Roger Ramjet did it 60 years ago. But they were evil, incompetent robots from outer space

This 60-year concept has been more recently shown to be quite feasible.

Except for stairs, I guess

It appears that an air vent has been bored entirely through this brick archway, so I imagine (and *hope*, from a structural point of view) that the window opening below has been bricked up, explaining why it can't be made an egress? No sign of it in the interior.

Those are some hinges to be reckoned with, @stmagnuscathedral.bsky.social

Hmm.. if the last word before the " was in italics, then the last letter could indeed have an overhang interfering with an adjacent " character, putting the . between would fix it.

The 'f' in the picture has such an overhang (and the descender has one too, but it looks like it's broken off)

Ummm... "Edsel, DeSoto, Man, Camera, TV?" I'm a genius right? They said nobody got a higher score.

Oh no... But then who will be there, to dream up the next Cybertruck?

Does anybody know how all these electric outboards can claim 1000W and 4HP? 1000W is 1.34 HP.

Some are claiming 5HP and 1000W.

Is it just "marketing HP?"

Also '21AH' is not a measure of 'Current' 🙄

"When this gauge reaches zero, the city will fall!"

- Dr Zarkov,
"Flash Gordon: Spaceship to the Unknown" 1936

Episode 10, "Tournament of Death"

It appears "Dramatic Tension" is not measured on a completely uniform scale. Change from 8 to 7 dCH(*) is bigger than 3 to 2

Just putting up this completely unrelated discussion of Orwell's 1984...

Hey @hollywoodsuite.bsky.social you do know there's a different Sergio Leone flick you could have picked for 9pm on 70's ??

I'm pretty confident it's in second place, Michael. Some might say third at best.

Canadians ejected Stephen Harper in 2015, a big reason was the admin's efforts to make sure that scientific research was "in sync" with their particular view of reality, and also hiding that they were doing it.

I agree with the sentiment here, but I've always found that to be an awful metaphor. All kinds of good reasons to reinvent wheels.

Ah ok, they don't exist in much the same way that lens flare effects don't exist.
But formed in the atmosphere instead of the lens. Cool!
