I've avoided social media in general since then and it's done wonders for me mentally but I'd like to maintain some sort of digital connection. This might be it. If I do, it'll just be a blog of nonsense about my life.

Thanks for being along for the ride. I couldn't have done it without you.

There's so many people that have helped me over the years. Literally too many to list. I'll never be able to thank them enough. I'm glad we shared this journey together. But I think it's time for me to move on from it.

I got to see two of my own paint schemes hit the track. I even own a piece from my first one. It's almost surreal to look at.

Maybe that's enough.

Maybe now I can actually grow up and live a life that has more meaning beyond race cars.

I'm totally okay with that.

Assuming, of course, the sport still exists in the next five years. 🥴

My life has totally changed since this decision and I've found happiness, peace, love, and purpose now that I've finally stepped away from something that I'm not sure I ever really enjoyed. At least, not for several years.

I don't miss it at all. I don't think I'll ever come back. I'd still like to work in NASCAR some day, but I want to be established in my career instead of getting jerked around because I'm just seen as some gullible kid. It's a lesson that a lot of these young designers will learn the hard way.

So why fight an ever-growing stream of competition to get into a sport that I already have a very complicated relationship with? Not only that, but a sport in which I've already worked in and had an awful time in?

Why continue to do something that just stresses me the hell out?

I figured when I got the job that I'd still have the itch to make something every so often.

Nope.

For starters, everyone else is good now. Like, really good. And there's SO MANY people now. Design has become way more accessible than it was even just five years ago.

I kinda did it without warning so I'm not sure many people noticed or cared. The big catalyst is that I got a design job - not just that, but a job in motorsports, just not in NASCAR. It's a totally different world while still being familiar enough to fulfill my passion for racing.

also would like to start a blog to discuss livery design theory but I don't think many people would give a shit 😅
