In the UK, the divergence has grown for average worker pay since around 2001, while the median rate shows that the majority of workers have seen pay go up by just 20% despite productivity gains of 80%. The theft has to stop, and there needs to be a wealth tax to redistribute what has been stolen.

This is the biggest problem we have with global capitalism. The middle class is already almost destroyed, as since 1979 the executives have been taking the lions share of productivity gains. If we don’t fix this, society will eventually regress to the days of peasants and lords.

I’m having a bit of a mental health crisis today, but this cheered me up a bit. Hopefully we in the UK and our European neighbours can forge our own new path as a result of the US shitshow. A world without the influence of Americans is an attractive vision in some ways. Plus, here’s a pretty bird!
