KCD2 is not a self contained collection of stories. It’s one large cohesive narrative where characters seem to constantly react and offer opinions on the state of the game world making it feel all the more real that a character cares about something you said you’d do but didn’t actually.

Imagine epic games completely removes their fortnite live ops team and replaces it with gen ai tuned to an individuals taste — with the goal of monetization score instead of engagement. Pretty scary stuff for jobs…

I think the original games’ charm and reason for persisting as a popular FPS is because of its semi open world design with interesting points of interest. It’s similar to the experience you get in Skyrim but in an equally fantastic setting, for most westerners. Curious how well multiplayer would do

Just wish there were more than a handful of game studios like Larian. This sentiment is too rare the closer you get to AAA.

I been thinking about skyrim recently… it’s been so long. I think I can sort of get a pseudo “first time” experience. I’m forever chasing the dragon of booting up skyrim for the first time on 11.11.11 and it’s not paarthurnax

However ingame tutorials aren’t the only way to do it. Maybe you can’t do them for some reason. A game manual, online videos etc are all valid ways to teach people how to enjoy your game. Of course not as conducive as in-game tutorials but don’t discount these as totally worthless

No one will keep playing your game if they can’t understand it! Confusion can be a core idea of your game. But anything that helps clarify how to have fun will get more people to play and enjoy your game. Definitely put time into creating a tutorial especially if your gameplay is novel.

I don’t think any artist in any creative field get so hung up on sales or completion of a project like in games. Great artists of all kinds will have unfinished work that they still learn from. Games are a complex system of creative work, releasing one is not even close to actually working on one

it’s true because games are made up of mechanics! Once you learn how to make movement work you can take those skills to any big or small project with movement. Publishing is great to learn marketing and business but not the same as suddenly knowing how to do combat just because it’s a “whole” game
