Chekhov's bulb.
Usually, an independent pre-title scene is supposed to be some visuals of... production company logos. Like an abstract hand lighting up a bulb in picture 1.
So it's a surprise how it ends up becoming a Chekhov's bulb.

The Confrontational Front Shot.
A technique seen in Cure (1997) where the character is placed in the dead center. It creates a direct, overwhelming and confrontational sense. A very deliberate type of framing. Framing is usually *bust* - cropping from chest up.

Picture descriptions are reversed, duh.
A red dot in the dark.
Simple, and effective way to tell that someone is there. Someone not kind.
Menacing.
