Am busy organizing a future Town Hall for our largely hispanic school families to underscore the message that their children have rights to a free and public education and here in California that means something.

Can someone please explain what the democrats in Congress are doing to respond to this madness? The current president did not overwhelmingly win the popular vote. Why isn't nearly half the country stepping up and saying Enough. What can we individuals do?

So tomorrow is Monday and first on my list as Supt. is to stop in at all of our school sites to make sure everyone knows the drill on what to do if ICE shows up. Goal for me is to make sure we're all calm and consistently prepared.

My biggest challenge is convincing our teachers that we can work together and make our Dreams for Our Students come true. Our barriers are not financial even though we are rural and small.
Our barriers are resignation, disbelief and a lack of fire in the belly. My role? Educ. pyromaniac! #EduSky

I am grateful for experiences and mentoring from leaders in 3 outstanding Chicago area school districts: Glenbard 87, Glenbrook 225, and Maine Twp. 207. As a California Supt today, I know I owe so much to Robt Elliott, Dave Hales, and Ken Wallace. All put student needs first! #EduSky

Post Election, I am finding peace in getting back to reading, rather than watching the news or scrolling SM. Just finished Wild by Cheryl Strayed. Highly recommend it.

I'm thinking of writing a time capsule letter for a future grandchild to read. I have certain landmark memories burned in my brain about civil rights, women's rights, etc. I want to pass the torch for righteousness to my offspring. What would you write in a similar letter?

Excited to have found a Bluesky subset of educators where we can have honest and inspiring interactions! #EduSky

If I keep my focus on The Work At Hand, as a School Superintendent, I am feeling more optimistic and calm. It’s when I look toward the chaos that is coming on Jan 20, that I feel uneasy. We must remember while he won the popular vote,
It wasn’t a landslide.Plenty of us working together for the Good.

I am ashamed of my Baby Boomer population that should have remembered the energy and courage they had to protest back in the 60’s and 70’s and at least showed up in force Nov 5 to save us from the coming dark days. Did we forget the ideals of our youth?

Those of us who are public school educators need to double-down on curriculum that equips students with discernment and empathy. Our primary job should be to graduate a citizenry that can lead with intelligence and courage.

Wondering what the impact for students will be when the Department of Education is eliminated? What happens to Title grant funding, special education protections, sexual harrassment regulations? As a Public School Admin, I am beyond worried.

And yes, my handle is to honor RBG. May she rest in peace. I shudder to think what she would make of the current state of affairs....
