D’oh. Missed that. Reading the synopsis on Wikipedia, it doesn’t sound like a very faithful adaptation.

Just found out today that it was adapted into a film in 1970, starring Joe Namath, and Glen Campbell. Had no idea.

This is 6 sticks. OP’s photo shows price for 4. You’re getting a better price.

Not only is it ethically bankrupt conceptually, but judging by the still, it’s aesthetically absurd. It looks like it was created with zero awareness of what made the original so charming for almost 90 years.

I found it amusing in a curious sort of way. Not as funny as TG, but weirder.

That’s a uterus. I have doubts about the competency of your expert.

As clueless as his dad.

To assume that they don’t exist simply because you’ve never met them is naïve, and points to a level of seclusion that suggests your opinions are formed in a vacuum. Real-world experience shows that it’s not uncommon for children to echo their parents’ beliefs and prejudices.

Not convinced we’re hearing the entire truth about the shooting, but that just looks like an assistant to me. The photog is simply circling to get the best angle as the action rapidly unfolds and can’t afford to also watch where he’s walking.

Is “Pondi” a new nickname or something? Haven’t heard that one.

And such a handsome certificate, too! I love seeing that. Extra-celebratory!

Awesome!

Yes.
One case in point: Watchmen.
When Alan Moore said that it was unadaptable as a film, he didn’t mean that you couldn’t transfer the imagery and basic plot to the screen. It’s that there’s no way to truly apprehend it - to meet the creators on their terms - without reading it as a comic.

I like his work, too.
And a funny thing about that interview: you can tell that Noto has no f**ks to give when she throws a bit of shade on Wendy Pini, who has become a well-loved icon and is recognized as a pioneer in independent comics.

That was a good read. And I’m glad to hear a writer call out the essential contradiction between the character of Sonja and the cheesecake approach. Even as a kid, that mail bikini seemed dumb to me.
The Hollywood stuff is interesting, too, and not hard to believe.

Everything there seems to pertain to the rights of those being detained; there’s no requirement for accountability to bystanders that I can see. Very frustrating.

I am all for championing reading to kids and for kids developing a love of reading, but if none of the qualities mentioned above have been at least partially instilled by parenting before a kid starts to read, I’m not sure all the books in the world will make any difference.
