I think the biggest takeaway is that winning ≠ being correct. Having a 15th card for an unpopular but bad matchup would always be better than having a companion that you can't pay 3 to add to your hand.

It's just the best land that makes both colorless and green. This deck also can use the red for firespout

I thought it would be so hard for them to top 3D Country, yet here we are!

To tie it back to the original post, that's not really something anyone can control so long as magic is a trading/collectable card game. The players dictate the market

Huge pauper head over here so I totally agree! But I never understood the rhetoric that a casual deck should be able to hang with a competitive one. It's way more than just $ that makes the deck better

Why should a less tested deck be able to hang with very tested ones? That's like buying a keurig and being mad it doesn't make espresso

As someone who is only a comp player and doesn't enjoy commander, I saw this post and thought it was awful. It boils down to, "I don't like that people enjoy something I don't" and to the OP's point, restaurants do change all the time, to the excitement of some and the gloom of others.

As another recovering yawg addict, I've found a lot of the same gameplay patterns from playing broodscale.

I'm practicing for a sealed rcq and it makes it so much more difficult to retain info. Having even non legendary cards renamed is making it so difficult to become familiar with the frequently played cards.

The third one would be awesome for the space set!

That just doesn't align with a game that releases 4-6 sets of new cards a year. Every format grows and changes as cards are added to them or taken away. You can likely still play your pauper archetype from 8 years ago, it just won't be the exact same cards.

You are worried about a full format rotation with mh4, when that didn't even happen with mh3. They added archetypes, and lost some others for sure. But magic is made to grow and change, IMO it would be awful if a deck from 8 yeats ago was playable today

I am also much more of a magic player. I haven't experienced scalping to that degree in our community. In what forms do you generally see it?

I've only read the manga for ping pong. But I return to it whenever I need to feel it's possible to be "the god of _"

Round 1: Bant Yuna Omni 2-1
Round 2: UW control 2-0
Round 3: RG Plot Calamity 2-1
Round 4: UG Landfall 2-1
Round 5: Jund Roots 2-0

People buy them up like there's no tomorrow, why would they change it for the better? Genuine question from someone who only occasionally buys secret lairs, mostly basic lands.

Round 1: Jund Altar Tron WLW
Round 2: BG Fog WLL
Round 3: RB Madness WW
Round 4: UB Faeries (I think) WW
Round 5 : High Tide LWW
Round 6: Needle Drop Burn WLW
We split the top 8 because everyone just wanted to go home, including the event staff lol

It takes you from 1 to 3 mana the following turn without even playing an additional land drop. Its ability to allow you to have upwards of 4 mana on turn 2 is the problem. It's impossible to compare it to cards that take you from 1 mana to 3 mana on turn 2
June 17, 2025 at 3:13 PM
I think it's mainly because a lot of the other decks that have blue and red also have phlage or other powerful 3 drops. Which makes it harder to actually turn EI into card advantage

How would you go about regaining your tournament confidence after a long stretch of performing below your personal expectations?
