Spirit of America

Pledge my loyalty to no politician or party.

US foreign policy, climate change, Middle East then and now, corruption in government.
Your post about wine in the WB reminded me of when, in 2022, Kamala Harris served wine from the Psagot Winery based in an illegal West Bank settlement at her Passover seder. Who says she didn't express empathy for Palestinian suffering...

Unfortunately, the terror US foreign policy has spread globally spans many decades. In that sense, not an honorable history by any means. Shameful better describes it. As a vet, you may know this first hand.

No apology needed. Those without sin cast the first stone, or something like that. Go in peace, my son!

I think Trump is as a Mafia Don. Nothing and no one moves without his approval, or they get the axe one way or the other. No offense taken.
February 8, 2026 at 6:35 PM
Brava to these brave women!
February 8, 2026 at 6:32 PM
I beg to differ. How does Trump's advocating for the demise of Palestinians and taking Gaza not make him complicit? You realize that since the so-called ceasefire in Gaza over 500 Palestinians we know of have been killed and not peep from the Mad King. How does that exonerate him from complicity.

I, too, respect the military. Just not the way it has been used in the 20th & 21st century. "War is hell" & no one comes back the same. There are some situations no human being should be subjected to or participate in.
February 8, 2026 at 6:16 PM
Now European leaders have grown a conscience! Does that mean they'll be doing a mea culpa, too, on all the weapons & intelligence they gave to Israel to commit genocide on a civilian population? As for the arms race, the winner and award goes to the US-40% of global arms sales.

Despite what has recently been uncovered about Chomsky, he still tops the charts of historic knowledge on US foreign policy. Attended a lecture by him at Amherst College in 1999 and I was blown away. Chomsky will have to make his own peace. Only he knows at this point what really occurred.

Point taken on the number, didn't see your reply as an attack. Don't understand what you mean by "shining" away from war. Did you mean to write shying away? US wars in the 20th & 21st century fall under the heading of ongoing resources war. So, yes, I shy away from wars of domination or empire.

Just 5 or 6 conglomerates own 90% of media in the US. Imagine their power of persuasion aka propaganda.
February 8, 2026 at 4:51 PM
The exact number is not known at this time. I chose 100,000 and not the present underestimated 71,000. Some estimates go as high as 360,000, which I see as being more realistic. Factoring there were an est. 2.6m Palestinians at the onset & now supposedly 2.3m. Long term, as # in war on terror.

MSM in the US is mostly corporate owned, even more so now. Many of those corporations have a finger in the pie, so to speak, and they are not going to shoot their cash cows. US gov. has a history of tamping down the news, per se, under the pretense of "national security." Much is propaganda.

Both political parties did indeed support the war in Gaza which Butcher Biden could have ended with in the first three week, but chose not to do so. And, here we are. What is even more shameful is that at least 100,000 Palestinians have been slaughtered, continue be slaughtered by US complicity.
February 8, 2026 at 4:16 PM
The fact that 280 journalist were killed in Gaza and the US media stayed silent and did not even defend that which they profess to uphold is beyond any rational person's understanding.
February 8, 2026 at 4:02 PM
Just by requesting, no less, tech companies get "terrorist-grade" sanctions on Francesca Albanese and ICC judges, both of which are under the UN, no surprise. Trump's way of adding one more reason the UN needs to be dismissed.

Gazan emergency responder are the epitome of bravery and valor and for the many who lost their lives in attempts to save lives. I salute them!
February 8, 2026 at 3:42 PM
To say the least. That international silence has been going on for over 2 yrs, and yes, they are complicit in the ongoing genocide. Are you aware of Israel's ever-expanding "Yellow Line" in Gaza and the military road being built thru 3 destroyed refugee camps in the West Bank?
February 8, 2026 at 3:18 PM
The fighting has not ended and will not end soon enough. Have you researched Trump's Master Plan & his Board of Peace and what they entail, or what is presently going on in the West Bank? The information will help you to understand just how stacked the odds are against the Palestinians.
February 8, 2026 at 3:12 PM
Keep the pro-Israel base? The situation in Gaza was more than a human disaster, but a full-blown genocide and still is one. This was and continues to be a case of ethics and humanity and not one of keeping voters on one's roster. Human life is not measured by politics.
February 8, 2026 at 2:58 PM
Exactly!
February 8, 2026 at 1:39 AM
Unfortunately, not enough.
Bernie has fought the good fight for decades. That's why the powers that be made sure he never became the presidential candidate.

Amen!
