I agree that they are my best option, but given that the radical, toxic individualistic, hate rhetoric-inspired right are well represented on my ballot, a leftist candidate too would have been nice.

Nice piece. Sadly, I can't place the red/blue team any lower than 2nd/3rd because the sheer volume of lunatic shitfuckery in my electorate skews heavily in the "would really like to pour petrol on the ongoing dumpster fire" direction.
