family is away for a few days so I get to try a bigger scenario on the downstairs table, tomorrow we’ll see if I succeed

currently obsessing over how every page of the triangle agency is the best thing I’ve ever read, ttrpgs are so good

Getting back to clay has been very good for me and also it’s so expensive that it’s also a little stressful. But I’m sketching ideas and wanting to weave again and I have missed having ideas. Gonna figure out how to spend money I don’t have to keep doing it tho

For 3.5 weeks I was in a different state house sitting and cat sitting for some friends. I’ve been back for two weeks and every single day miss being in a quiet place with no other humans and a cat who liked to lay on me at every opportunity.

tutorial once, solo scenario one four times with base houses plus a three star complexity house (Marqualos) once. it’s just so fun for my brain.

Made a probably bad financial decision but a very good my brain is less unhappy decision and got this monster of a game. People are not kidding the set up is truly very long but I don’t mind it honestly. I remember seeing this going around board game YouTube and thinking it looked like it’d be a

garden update

Had a rough start but learned some lessons and resowed some things and after some fertilizer things have perked up. Already making plans for fall planting and next year.

This game is very big, physically but also metaphorically or something like that. I’m only two rounds in and the things it says about the working class and capitalist class via mechanisms are fascinating. There’s so much to think about. I don’t even know if I like the game at this point because it’s

There was a sale and I got this beast that I’ve been eyeing for many months. As I continue to dip my toe into war games I’ve focused on stuff that’s solo or particularly well suited to solo because I don’t have a table to play these with and to be honest I don’t think I’d want to try and teach them

So one of the largest and most complicated games in our challenge is this weird weird thing, Roads and Boats. From Splotter which is a publisher who make weird weird fiddly complicated things in general. Why my brother in law picked it is somewhat of a mystery. But he did. And now after many hours

Been having a bad time but also it’s fine everything is fine. Here’s some stuff.

Nucleum is heavy and a weird theme about power and building things and nebulous references to barons. But the crunch was appealing. I played it once with a very very stripped down automa variant from BGG and enjoyed my time, there was a lot I liked. The action selection is FASCINATING.

Two plays in two days of Black Forest, and this game is very fun, but is also a game that I have ZERO idea how I'm doing as I play. There's a very fun puzzle in those resource wheels, when to take goods, when to not, how to move things and spend things to stop them moving, etc. And while I do think

Also look at my loaves. Good loaves.

I played this twice today, S.E.T.I. and it’s very good and also the automa is so weird. The base game is a clever tight economy euro. You use credits and energy to do actions or play cards. There’s multiple ways of giving yourself intermediate small goals to achieve by playing out cards, and it’s

I rode along with my sister for some random errands and half price books had a wishlist game on the shelf, in shrink, for, get this, half price.

Nova Roma is interesting. As a game it’s euro-y mini game point salad and I like those. Give me a big list of objectives and I’ll try to accomplish them happily. The main like, gimmick but without the negative connotations, is the action selection. There’s a grid in the center of the board,

Because I love to make everything a project, my personal little board game challenge has grown. I started it as a 10x3, but it’s now .. a 22x3? I have games I’ve played alone but two handed and decided to just add them all to my list. So 2025 is the year I learn automas in my collection. Hence,

We love Uwe here, but Glass Road while enjoyable was a weird solo experience. The action selection involved some randomness with card draw and the thing I love about Uwe solo is how pure it often is. No automa, just your brain and constraints and trying to make things work. So when this was

This is Civolution. By Stefan Feld, and it’s an absolute beast of a game. The theme is silly, you’re like some sort of divine entity in training kind of and the game is your final exam in creation studies or something as you try to make a humanoid civilization that’s successful.

Been drinking a lot of tea but haven’t had words left for the tea at the end of days. Played some games but haven’t been able to articulate how I felt about them. But I finished these. 👍
