Getting back to clay has been very good for me and also it’s so expensive that it’s also a little stressful. But I’m sketching ideas and wanting to weave again and I have missed having ideas. Gonna figure out how to spend money I don’t have to keep doing it tho

For 3.5 weeks I was in a different state house sitting and cat sitting for some friends. I’ve been back for two weeks and every single day miss being in a quiet place with no other humans and a cat who liked to lay on me at every opportunity.

tutorial once, solo scenario one four times with base houses plus a three star complexity house (Marqualos) once. it’s just so fun for my brain.
The space themed board game voidfall set up for solo play in an end game state. garden update

Had a rough start but learned some lessons and resowed some things and after some fertilizer things have perked up. Already making plans for fall planting and next year.

There was a sale and I got this beast that I’ve been eyeing for many months. As I continue to dip my toe into war games I’ve focused on stuff that’s solo or particularly well suited to solo because I don’t have a table to play these with and to be honest I don’t think I’d want to try and teach them
The game Comanchería: The Rise and Fall of the Comanche Empire set up on a table top up against a wire grid panel. The game consists of a large board containing a number of boxes and cardboard counters. 2/3 of the board is a map with locations connected to each other by solid or dotted lines in various colors. The other 1/3 are two separate areas to track enemy actions and the strength of Comanche settlements. There are also cards both on the board and on the right and left side.

So one of the largest and most complicated games in our challenge is this weird weird thing, Roads and Boats. From Splotter which is a publisher who make weird weird fiddly complicated things in general. Why my brother in law picked it is somewhat of a mystery. But he did. And now after many hours

Been having a bad time but also it’s fine everything is fine. Here’s some stuff.
A light gray metal raised garden bed 8 feet by 4 feet and 12 inches tall in front of a stone facade and breezeway of a house. The bed has a 50” tall pipe structure surrounding it that will eventually hold a netting cover as well as red tomato cages on one side of the bed. The bed is 90% full of soil and sitting on a weed barrier. A tapestry on a loom with deep purple waste yarn and a subtle design of light browns and muted green and blue depicting a hill and sky surrounded by a frame of brown yarn. The game Endless Winter set up on a tabletop under a lamp. It’s set up for solo play and consists of multiple player boards and main game boards as well as a hex map. There are lots of cards spread out below the boards and near each player board. The game Carnegie set up for solo in an end game state. There are solo cards below the large main game board and to the right is the board I used to play. There are a number of white and gray and yellow wooden pieces all over the main game board and my player board.

Nucleum is heavy and a weird theme about power and building things and nebulous references to barons. But the crunch was appealing. I played it once with a very very stripped down automa variant from BGG and enjoyed my time, there was a lot I liked. The action selection is FASCINATING.

Two plays in two days of Black Forest, and this game is very fun, but is also a game that I have ZERO idea how I'm doing as I play. There's a very fun puzzle in those resource wheels, when to take goods, when to not, how to move things and spend things to stop them moving, etc. And while I do think

I rode along with my sister for some random errands and half price books had a wishlist game on the shelf, in shrink, for, get this, half price.

Nova Roma is interesting. As a game it’s euro-y mini game point salad and I like those. Give me a big list of objectives and I’ll try to accomplish them happily. The main like, gimmick but without the negative connotations, is the action selection. There’s a grid in the center of the board,
