They don't in theory. NL bus operators are almost as stupid as UK. Although the equipment is technically set up for all door boarding, the bus managers try to force front door boarding. However, most bus drivers don't enforce this nonsense. But not all.

Why are developers complaining about policies that don't affect already approved projects? This strikes me as politics playing. There are a significant number of units they could be building right now but aren't. It sounds like interest rates are part of the problem & 'less than desirable profits'.
![Urban Land Institute Boston/New England Executive Director Michelle Landers said that though local policies are an unwelcome addition for developers, the driving causes of the slowdown are macroeconomic factors, including high interest rates and construction costs.
"I know there's been reference to affordability requirements and sustainability requirements, but I think it's really the fundamentals that are holding back and not some of these things that get added on," Landers said. "Those maybe on the fringes don't help make the deal look better, but I think that some of the problems are just these bigger macroeconomic factors."
Colliers' Myers said that if developers could build right now they would. Relative to other cities, Boston's apartment market fundamentals are ripe for development — steady rental growth, low vacancy and high demand driven by a statewide housing crunch.
Myers said that developers looking to sell developments in the short term could be faced with less than desirable profits.

Gdańsk is quite good for cycling. Poland has been rolling out a nice standard template for road rebuilds over the past 10-15 years, with separated cycleways, and Gdańsk made good progress. Check out the shoreline path, recently rebuilt to high standards, great views.

Computers always fail around me, tale n+1: this time it's the PIN-only PoS system at the bakery, their whole system freezes, so I'm standing at the head of a queue and nobody can pay. The PoS IT help line is closed. Smart. I especially love the motto of the PoS company: 'Reken op Evers'. Yeah right.

I like this classic mural (by Peter Alma, 1939) in Amsterdam Amstelstation but yesterday it occurred to me that all of the trains depicted are shown to be polluting heavily and covering the Earth in smog. Quite ironic given the all-electric service these days.
