I would imagine you're pretty tired of all this, so I won't bug you about it anymore.

Completely unrelated - your profile header made me smile because I'm also a fan of music, books, birds, stars, cider, wine, and a long time ago, The Cure! Thanks again for your time. I really do wish you well. :)

before were not part of a dialogue. In dialogue, Charlie was pretty decent to people. He matched their energy, for sure, but if someone was there for discussion, he listened and was respectful.

Not that that should earn a national holiday! Lol.

It's so interesting how Charlie has become the face of some kind of movement. I thought the same about George Floyd. It's like we humans just need a face or personality to put our hopes and dreams onto. I'll always be mystified by that.

It likely won't matter to you at all, but the comments from

The degree to which the male advantage is reduced due to hormone therapy is unknown.

Other factors that come into play, such as male babies' "mini puberty", and the testosterone surge in pre-pubescent boys "cast doubt on whether it suffices not to have undergone male puberty".

It's not just about circulating hormones.

The article that graph portion comes from states that trans women do have advantages over biological women, and that more study is required. The advantages were most evident for the first year of hormone therapy, reducing in the second.

Also, I'm really happy for you that you were able to get the surgery required so you can walk. That is awesome, and I hope that you are pain free as well. :)

The genitals aren't the problem. The problem is that everything else that comes with XY chromosomes gives this person an advantage over biological females in sport. It's an unfortunate lot in life, to be sure, but this person cannot expect to be able to compete FAIRLY against biological women.

This is just so funny! If I were writing a dramatic spy novel with a comedic bent, this is something I'd put in there. Lol.

Love him or hate him, he's sure entertaining!

I am not, nor was I a "fan" of Charlie. I'm just someone who respects his efforts toward civil dialogue and feel the harsh characterizations of him are unfair.

I really appreciate you taking the time to engage with me. It's been lovely. :)

In regard to misogyny... Charlie absolutely adored his wife. He respected her and elevated her. He served her and celebrated her. He also sought out, hired, and worked with many women. While his words were often ill-chosen, his actions showed his heart attitudes.

To be clear,

Like I've said before - he was abrasive. Not to my taste at all. But he was not a racist or a misogynist. He just wasn't polite.

Thanks for helping me think through all of this. I hope you have a great day/life!

I think his work with Blexit is one example that he was not a racist. However, I have noticed that those who want to disagree will find a way to make even that look racist, somehow. It seems like if someone has made up their mind, no evidence will overcome that bias.

(And I think that applies

idolizing or demonizing anyone. Charlie was just a dude trying to do the best he knew how. He really wanted to keep dialogue open. That is inspiring. Talking with people who disagreed with him, putting up with abuse, and still caring about folks enough to engage - that's kind.

Back to racism -

Yeah, I wasn't impressed with the term "debunking". I still thought the content was well rounded out and balanced. It made his words sound less awful because they actually were less awful - there's a deeper context to what was said that doesn't come across in short bits and pieces.

I'm not a fan of
