I guess it was the first really big overhaul of the look of transit buses in about 25 years, since 1980ish when the New Look "fishbowl" buses introduced in the late 1950s began to be supplanted with the duller Gillig Phantom buses, which the old New Flyers still resembled

then again maybe I'm easily impressed; I remember being ecstatic when New Flyer did their big mid-2000s bus redesign and the boring boxy DE40LF (left) was replaced with the curvy DE40LFA (right) in the WMATA fleet and they also updated the livery to have a lot less dull white paint
