Dear Target Corporate, I apologize if this is not the correct email address for my letter, though I imagine your investors and stock price pay take a hit. Target has long presented itself as the moral and political alternative to Walmart in my affluent suburban communities. I personally spend thousands of dollars on groceries, household goods, clothes, gifts etc. I do not go to Walmart for various reasons, despite their prices often being lower than yours. I have your credit card and the delivery plan, Circle 360. I recently cancelled my Amazon Prime membership and was moving the bulk of my online shopping to you too. Unfortunately it looks like I will have to find a better alternative. Reading that you are eliminating your DEI program in lockstep with Walmart, McDonalds and other corporate sellouts to the new political administration is honestly shocking. JP Morgan and Goldman Sacs have more backbone and integrity than you do, it seems. If a major thing keeping people shopping at Target vs the cheaper alternative Walmart was reputation, I’m afraid you’ve just caused a major unforced error. Good luck with your sales and stock price. I will be finding new places to shop.
