I started a fresh account and the only time power mattered was the strike playlist. Those strikes on a fresh account were harder than any GM I’ve ever done.

Power is pointless and should be taken out of the game. With the way Bungie can tweak the difficulty of an activity, what’s the point of having power anymore? Especially with fireteam power enabling the newest of players to do any activity in the game.
