I had really lovely parents that are still just sweethearts, but their purposeful lack of gender enforcement (in the 80s) meant I made it to puberty with "I'm a boy" in the foundations and it took a few decades before I re-examined that.

That Arnold had to make so few at all difficult saves when SD had so much possession in our third gives me the greatest hope for our defense since we had the wall of Emilys

The thing I talk about in our conversations is related, the 2020 elections. The NYT coverage was so biased in what they completely ignored and I saw that at 20. I think @maxkennerly.bsky.social said it would be looked back on as the death knell for what democracy we had.

It's especially maddening when talking to a Republican (but willing to have actual conversations and learning) neighbor who's convinced that the NYT is "left-biased." At least he acknowledges that Fox is right-biased?

their shallow understanding of evolution as ever upwards maddens me too. Mutations that are advantageous in how they use limited resources are often later responsible for extinction or population crashes.
Everything has to be a video game instead of a complex system.

And a system is not defined by rules, but by how they are enforced.

I went through the same, then looked back at their coverage of Bush v Gore and realized that they had been covering up their right leaning with neutral language, misleading headlines, and featuring some mostly milquetoast liberal pieces since at least then. The NYT was *inherited* in 1997.

Pump Up the Volume. A fun little Christian Slater movie very explicitly telling people they should break the law in order to be heard speaking against those in power. Also the only scene with any female nudity is feminist af. For some reason it's hard to find streaming 🤔

Came here to say this. It's especially weird as a 40 year old that plays soccer (albeit very much no longer the competitive sort). Those pens last night were giving me flashbacks to 2015 and then I realized that's when my Chara jersey was from, and he was already an established core player

Wish I'd had your cutout tools image when I laser cut these for last anniversary, I made the image trimming so much more difficult for myself than I needed to.

It's just us-east-1 that's affected, but it's the original region and has tended to be the default even for tech companies in CA
