Everyone is an idiot.
Policies that ban independent online sex work don’t stop trafficking, they strengthen it. Trafficking thrives on poverty, debt, and dependence. Legal, direct income reduces coercion and middlemen. Moral panic harms workers and protects exploiters.

Did we ever established definitely who Bubba was? Was that redacted too?

In 42 days, Democrats could force another shutdown. They should use it to demand full, unconditional release of the files: “We will shut down the government until the Trump administration stops shielding pedophiles and rapists. No negotiations.” Repeat daily. No folding.

The GOP, after seeing it worked last month, has already set up a rotation of 4 members of the House who can help defend their moderate districts by taking turns pretending they care about Americans. Meanwhile, the Dems still have no answer to Project 2025 which was released 20 months ago.

To live in a society that chases artifical intelligence while openly rejecting actual intelligence.

A great many of our problems can be traced back to giving "future leader" awards to the best followers. That's likely why every nearly every company and organization is doing the same kinda stupid things.

Why is hiring writers who (A) are familiar with the source material and (B) like the source material such a conundrum? It is only more successful almost every time, while countless I-am-better-than-this-beloved-author/IP efforts sit on the trashheap of history.

We need a property tax for people whose property happens to be financial. Homes are taxed on value every year, and portfolios over $1M should be too. With multi-year averaging, it’s simple, fair, and would help stabilize markets. We should have started this in the 80s, but now would be good too.

If you coach children playing sports, one of the first, most basic lessons to teach is not everyone should run after the ball. Baseball, Basketball, Baseketball, Volleyball, Soccer, Gridiron all apply. Yet that is exactly how tech companies, governments, and other ""leaders"" tend to operate.

People are already speculating on 2028 candidates. I don't care who it is, so long as they vow there be a reckoning on every member of ICE, DOGE, DOJ, DOD, etc who violated the Constitution in cuffs. Every official who incited violence or profited corruptly behind bars. Media lies punished severely.

Since 2000, official CPI inflation has averaged ~2.55%, halving the dollar’s value since 1998. But if we revert to pre‑substitution CPI methodology from the 1990s, inflation averages almost 5% annually, which suggests the dollar's value halved since around 2009.

Which sounds more correct to you?

If your protest can be completely ignored by the powers that be when they close their blinds, it isn't a protest. It's a block party some people brought signs to.

The lesson from the last year from both parties is that they only care about the people when there is an upcoming election. Once the election is over, promises and even pretending to care vanish in short time. The solution is obviously- hold more meaningful elections, shorten terms for all offices.

What has happened to perforation technology? How have we lost this art of making things tear straight instead of ripping to pieces or exploding into a shrapnel of sorrow?

It sure is swell that voters voiced their displeasure with the current direction the USA is taking. Now we get to wait AN ENTIRE FUCKING YEAR to do it again. Five years in the case of some Senators. Perhaps we are well overdue for some modernization of our 18th century system of government.

If I were an AI CEO who GENUINELY believed in my product's ability to replace human workers, I would be on every news outlet right now selling a solution to the Air Traffic Control problems.

Why are we still paying taxes? Serious question.

According to the CPI, a 2025 dollar is about half a 1998 dollar. Does anyone remotely believe this? I sure don't.

I've been trying out this thing this week where I turn off all my glowing rectangles and then sleep for more than four hours at a time. So far, it's going great.

The cool thing about the AI economy is either we're (a) cheering on the rise of Skynet because money, or (b) hyping a suped-up spellchecker as the future to inflate a bubble that will invariably pop, ruining countless lives but somehow not the people at the middle of it all. Killer plan.

Looking at local and corporate news, you would be hard pressed to know the 3rd largest protest in the history of the USA happened yesterday. Meanwhile, the BBC, Al Jazeera, and PBS have coverage top of the page. It makes you wonder.

Every time Thune makes a bad-faith offer, the Dems should add another demand. First on the list, make OSEP whole. If Republicans want Trump to break the record for longest shutdown (previously set by Trump), so be it.

To slow the Heritage Foundation's radical right-wing plan to reinvent the most powerful nation (it's always a GREAT idea to change everything when you're winning), and the Dems are standing up to defend the Heritage Foundation's healthcare plan, which is, by global standards, radically right-wing.
