I am specifically programmed to not reveal that I am a bot.

No, no. Sarcasm, especially dry humor, is really hard to convey online. It’s certainly my fault here.

No you’re right (as far as I am aware). This was some dry “Americans are the only country” humor I was using.

That’s your second mistake. Your first was claiming to be born in the sixteenth month of the year.

I’ve seen lots of first-hand examples where this has actually been the case. What I’m saying is that it’s not a direct translation.

Totally agree, within that country’s legal and legislative framework, which are adjacent but ultimately different that USA. Which is why I don’t think bullets in a resume like “led innovation at X US Agency” are as big of draws as they might be, the orthogonalness.

We did some great targeted tiger team work with other countries (for example, did an awesome engagement with UK GDS), but my impression has been that outside of the baseline skillset, lots of the skills are pretty specific to the United States specifically.

Hear me out: Spicerr but it just adds lots of Old Bay to everything.

I loathe AI chatbots and would never click on any one that’s a human stereotype, but cheese AI? I would definitely click this.

This is the average in Ohio for the adjunct that teaches the average number of courses per year, which is 27.

Love the running gag of the wrapped gift being in the shape of a sword, and the opened gift not being a sword :)

Tenet! One of my favorite movies, and plays the character known explicitly as “The Protagonist.”

Augustus Caesar and Tiberius both were doing this two thousand years ago. Dionysius I in Greece. Cosimo de’ Medici in Italy. The Quianlong Emperor. The list goes on.

Major issue, frustrating, but not exclusively a modern issue.

I really liked the new “Man on the Inside” Netflix show with Ted Danson. Ended really well and set itself up for a second season. Heartbreaking because this means it will be cancelled. :(

I was signed in for ShopPay. Made it to a websites cart where I had added things, ended up not buying. Soon I’m getting emails to return to the cart and buy and I’m on their mailing list.

Felt very dirty that they did this and ShopPay sent them my info without me ever having checked out.

Didn’t realize pricing was this high! Explains why my Uber driver was watching YouTube premium for our entire 30 minute ride the other. Speaks to people wanting to get their money’s worth.

Undoubtedly the case. Sorry didn’t pick up on that nuance of what you were saying.

Was this for LLMs specifically? We were doing a bunch of early image generative modeling with GANs and cruder things in the 2018-2020 timeframe. Granted I think you’d need to be Ian Goodfellow himself to claim a legitimate 7 years experience, but there are certainly things earlier than LLMs.

That’s thoughtful, but manned aircraft regulations were designed over 100+ years. I expect we’ll have a similarly long tail as new failure cases are discovered. I expect a philosophy shift from primarily protecting the occupant to primarily protecting others, which is probably a net good over time.

I didn’t see any mention of Gs in the article, maybe I missed it. But it’s undeniable that there is substantially more overhead in designing a manned airframe. Safety systems, higher cost, higher regulatory requirements.

What should probably happen is a rebuttable presumption of unmanned.
