From one study by Harvard Business Review: "because of Airbnb, absentee landlords are moving their properties out of the long-term rental and for-sale markets and into the short-term rental market." They are absolutely fucking up the housing market for other working class people when they do this.

My Canadian province (BC) outlawed short-term rentals last year, unless the landlord lives ON the premises. It freed up thousands of much-needed rental suites. So we despise AirBnB already.

Last week, the Planning Commission voted to approve some new regulations for short-term rentals (Airbnbs, VRBOs) in Lexington. Most of the regs are targeted at preventing too many rentals from being too close together. Council will have final say on if they pass or not.
