I use the following configs and import them via a separate python file. So I don't really think about my figure style each time. This can be changed later in the current file if something is off.

Since I'm a normal person, I have more sense of cm over inch. So a simple trick is to have a convertor function in your code and simply put your desired dimension in cm and use it in @matplotlib.org
