NOSLEEP (a run club)
@nosleeptilwolflin.bsky.social
a 4:44am run club in amarillo, usa.
NOSLEEP run was a bit breezy. The howling winds of West Texas remind natives everyone is not fit to live here. There’s a Texas of lush suburban turf, rolling hills, velvety putting greens. And there’s the Texas of violent, shit-scented winds, dry river beds, callouses and blisters. #runningpunks

NOSLEEP run this morning was cool, calm, and clear. Friday’s wind was 60mph sustained winds with gusts up to 85mph. Soundtracked by mckusky’s incredible and fiery 2004 album “The Difference Between Me and You is That I’m Not On Fire.” #runningpunks

NOSLEEP this morning took us through the quiet streets of San Jacinto. Beautiful mawning. Scored by the 1989 debut from Nine Inch Nails, “Pretty Hate Machine.” Trent was the right sound at the right time. Revolutionary album properly ushering in the 90s. Nothing was the same after ‘89. #runningpunks

NOSLEEP run this morning features a well-lit and empty Walgreens…blazing hot lights just polluting the night sky, scored by Texas’s finest Pantera. There is no finer Texas export than Pantera. Massively influential in metal yet always championing Texas. Cowboys from hell. None better. #runningpunks

NOSLEEP run featured wind temps at -14 degrees. I have a few temps for surviving these brutal elements but one key defense is take a moment, laugh and swear into the wind. It sounds stupid but it works for me. Run scored by Rage Against the Machine’s debut. Still ahead of its time. #runningpunks

NOSLEEP run this morning was a windblown and frustratingly cold affair…a fitting pair with Nirvana’s fiery 1989 debut “Bleach” which fearures their first single “Love Buzz” and, my personal fav “Negative Creep.” Released on legendary Sub Pop. #runningpunks

NOSLEEP ruck this morning under rather frigid temps at 9 degrees Fahrenheit. Enjoyed the raucous and delightfully undercooked Venom record, “Black Metal” from 1982. #runningpunks

NOSLEEP run today was painful. Mostly cranky knees and hips. My physician insists as long as I’m running, he’s happy. Running through pain at my age beats the hell outta not running at all. Sounds by Run DMC’s last great work…TOUGHER THAN LEATHER…features “Beats to the Rhyme.” Beastly. #runningpunks

NOSLEEP hustle soundtracked by one of my state’s finest cultural exports…the Geto Boys. Their 1990 album set them on a course for worldwide success, leaving Houston’s Rap-a-Lot and now on Def American under the careful eye of Rick Rubin. This album is a monster. #runningpunks

NOSLEEP foggy run brought to you by Bauhaus’s 1982 album, “The Sky’s Gone Out”, which is perfect moody motion music. It features a fiery cover of Eno’s “Third Uncle.” Bauhaus were absolutely dealing by this point. #amarillotx #runningpunks

NOSLEEP jaunt on a clear morning past Nevermind Place #amarillotx soundtracked by the Dead Kennedys’ masterful 1980 album “Fresh Fruit for Rotting Vegetables,” featuring my favorite “Kill the Poor.” #runningpunks

NOSLEEP run this morning under crystal clear skies and warm temps was scored by the seminal 1979 Joy Divison album, “Unknown Pleasures.” Quite a bit of leg soreness from a weekend of pickleball. Knees, calves, hips, arms. Guess I deserve it. Joy Division put me in the right headspace. #runningpunks

NOSLEEP run on a windy morning to the progressive sounds of Peter Gabriel’s 1978 album, entitled “Peter Gabriel,” along with his 1977 album, 1980 and 1982 albums. Must appreciate a guy who invested well on album sleeves but cared little about the album title. #runningpunks

NOSLEEP run went past Paramount Baptist, traditional pillar+steeple construction. Listened to Iggy Pop’s 1977 album, “The Idiot” which was recorded in France whilst he attempted to get clean. Given the amount of white on his face, I do believe he’s signaling he’s not yet well. #runningpunks

NOSLEEP four mile jaunt this morning thru Paramount in #amarillotx scored by the groundbreaking Wire and their monstrous sophomore record from 1978, “Chairs Missing.” #runningpunks
January 30, 2025 at 8:31 PM
NOSLEEP run around Westgate Mall is scored by Public Enemy’s seminal sophomore outing, “It Takes a Nation of Millions.” One day, all the malls will be flattened and the earth will be reclaimed. #runningpunks

NOSLEEP run this icy morning. Was hoping for snow pack but I can deal. Sounds courtesy of Beta Bands “Three EPs” which compiles their first three recordings. Highlight is the epically artsy “Monolith,” perfect for zoning. #runningpunks
January 28, 2025 at 10:42 AM
NOSLEEP morning run on four hours of disastrous sleep brought to you by noise duo Wolf Eyes and their 2001 album “Dread.” #runningpunks #runningpunk

NOSLEEP morning ruck with sounds courtesy of Suicide’s 7th LP from 2002 entitled, American Supreme…an accomplishment in lo-fi, experimental bedroom music. #runningpunks #amarillotx

Surprise, surprise...same time, same day, same cost. Still the cheapest and earliest race in America.
