The dog in my profile picture was Bandit, who we lost to bone cancer in early 2023. I've had trouble letting go of him. I'm an introverted code monkey who has been working with computers since the days of core memory and paper tape.
I just watched it and somehow had never seen it before. I think I'll try reading the story it was based on. Thanks!

TV or computer monitor? I got so spoiled by upgrading my monitor at home to 4k that my HD monitor at work feels cramped. Thank goodness I only have to use it once a week.

I still get a little nostalgic for the old batch processing days occasionally. Card readers and big noisy line printers made computers seem more impressive.

Take it from me, food left in a backpack over summer break is definitely something to be avoided. I remember the overpowering odor 30 years later.

I've read this book and enjoyed it immensely. Being reminded of it makes me want to read it again.

I'm so sorry for your loss! My profile photo is of the first of the 2 dogs we lost to different forms of cancer in 2023. Our current rescue has helped a lot with filling that huge void.

Kya, our current dog, gives me a similar look whenever I dare interrupt her by trying to take a picture. It's a shame as it makes it hard to catch some of the cute expressions she makes.

I hope these studies haven't counted on the restorative properties of your amazing burritos in their estimates. I've got 12 years on you and am hoping for many more of your stories to entertain me before I hit that final frontier.

I figured out how to get a non-volatile flash based filesystem recognized on the new embedded device I've been developing firmware for recently. I even got it to automount the filesystem right before I logged off for the day. This will make my holiday break much more relaxed.
