Is there a reason I ask that the Times are using a picture of asylum seekers in a boat to describe rules for migrants who came on legal routes such as skilled worker visas for doctors?
Tough new conditions to be imposed on migrants who want to settle in the UK will not apply to more than a million people who arrived in the UK under the post-Brexit immigration surge
Labour’s tough new rules will not apply to migrants already in UK

There is no reliable data linking small boat arrivals to higher crime rates. But there is plenty of evidence that fear sells. Stephen McNair crunches the numbers.
A crime wave in small boats: why worry about facts?
Conservatives claim that small boat arrivals are 24 times more likely to be in prison than the average British citizen. Are they?

Reform says “no” to onshore wind at 4p/kWh, and “yes” to gas at 11p and nuclear at 13p.

That’s not policy—that’s sabotage. They would ban cheap renewables. Keep you hooked on fossil fuels. Make you pay triple.

Prof Richard Murphy writes
An answer to Reform’s call for more expensive energy
Why are Reform UK so keen to push up energy prices, blocking the cheapest sources of energy, and giving control to international markets?

Hedge funds bet billions on market crash in Trump’s America.

Manufactured by trade/military wars, shrinking purchasing power of low/middle income families.

Will be the biggest crash ever as private equity has its claws everywhere.

Ultra-rich will get a public bailout.

Prediction; Trump, lauding Brexit, decides not to impose tariffs on the U.K. but does so on the EU; the objective being to break up the EU, ending its ability to control US tech companies’ anticompetitive conduct, data use & spreading of violent hate speech & misinformation. It’s all about $$$.

It is not just that Musk is attempting to 'influence' democratic politics in the UK & elsewhere. Above all, he is attempting, with success, to cause disruption & chaos: instilling a sense the game - of media; politics; truth - has changed. It has. And it accelerates faster than we can all keep up...

Hate how much we’re now talking about Elon Musk and the far right rather than how to prevent child sexual abuse and rape. It’s so very much easier to talk about the first than the second.

This sort of crap headline is deeply cynical as the morning press reviews will repeat the headline without comment or context to a much larger audience- that’s the reason the editor does this. They know what they’re doing and the BBC falls for it every time.

The headline on the online version is even worse.

To be clear, this is the opposite of what their own poll actually found

I become a helper

oh, oh,

on the days
when it feels like
I have no power

I serve others

you see,

the world's feet

my hands
immediately
stop shaking

Advocates say the company’s strategy may be illegal.
