It's interesting that Aberdeen can seem to be behind the times. Coming from Elgin, when I was a kid, a trip to Aberdeen was an opportunity to see modern stuff like escalators, traffic lights, busses with electric doors......

Get yourself down to Claremont cricket club in Cape Town for a classy view and all the other things on your list. I'd recommend False Bay Rugby Club which is next door but I got my worst ever alcohol related injury there, so maybe not.
