I can see it from the A69 when I go to Carlisle. It's such a distinctive flat shape on the landscape. You can see it for miles. I must visit!

The phallus is on the first course of stones, on the east wall of the caldarium. Just above the ground level on your left as you walk into the hot room. It's not alone. There is a little figure on one side, and an 'egg' or oval on the other. Then the next stone has a bird. What does it all mean?

I hope you found the phallus in the caldarium of the bath house? Plus the one over the river at the base of the bridge abutment. It makes you wonder just how many of these guys were dotted around the fort.
