World Builder. Impulsive creator (game design, illustration, writing). Was the lore writer for Homeworld Mobile. Still a beleaguered parent after a pandemic.
You're right, I dunno how I missed it.

When I get the chance I'll try to fix this fifteen year oversight

Given the prevalence of the Miranda and variants a century after they were first spotted it makes sense to me that variants would be stamped out to handle this need, easily

Likely. You might make the argument for a TMP upgrade to stay in the common parts pool with the rest of the fleet and upgrade defenses, but you can also build better ships for that. And the Bradford carries two pods instead of one.

This I knew, I just think the 90s fandom feels a sense of entitlement as to what Star Trek is supposed to look like, and they're so vocal it affects actual production.

It was a joy to go through the DC comics over a few days- I think that's the closest we'll ever get to a TV series set in the movies.

Right now I'm trying to understand how the FASA fleet behaved in-game so I can represent those ships adequately in TrekCaptains.

Leans very heavily into the FASA fleet, ships from Klingon Academy, has characters from the DC comics. You can roleplay a different movie canon starting from the motion picture. I have ways to simulate each of the movies from 1-6 with ingame actions and effects

I've been working on it for a decade

You can search my profile for TrekCaptains to follow the documentation so far

1-4 player Coop campaign adventure game. You pick a ship, have crew cards, investigate contacts and resolve missions to keep the peace. Set between 2270-2290.

Once it's ready it'll be a free release.

There's a wealth of EU content in this zone that was all discarded and forgotten when TNG started defining Star trek's present and future.
December 5, 2025 at 2:10 AM
Oh sorry, I was taking a guess why fans attack one another.

I mean I'm building a trek board game as a love letter to the 80s pre TNG canon, so I'm with you on selective use of Star trek's parts.
December 5, 2025 at 2:09 AM
Some sense of empowerment with using canon to de-ligitimize aspects/headcanons of others you don't like?

I think there's an us vs them mentality pervading a lot of major fandoms though, like Star wars EU fans ragging on Disney canon all the time.
December 5, 2025 at 1:58 AM
What irks me is how those TNG fans say this to anyone who misses TOS but try to push back the wheel when it's their turn to rotate into the past and also get forgotten/overruled by new Trek.

The season 1 Discovery Klingons should not have been reverted.
December 5, 2025 at 1:52 AM
I've been writing in places recently how much I miss the 80s Trek fandom before TNG changed everything.

There's a sentiment for missing a thing that can no longer be. I feel that also for classic Battlestar Galactica and old Doctor Who. You can't go back and only you seem to miss what it was.

Top view looks like they sprout out of a pod, but the side view looks like they're blended in the sides of the hull.

I want to try matching the look as close as possible but there's a point where it isn't and I'll need to be choosy about what aspects to use
December 4, 2025 at 8:06 PM
Yeah, I think I'm gonna have to use more creative license on this one than I thought I would.

If I get the Genser actually modeled, I think it will be one of the only times it's depicted in 3D.

TrekCaptains' rulebook is being gradually edited with elaborations and rewrites as I dig through the commentary. It seems a lot of problems are solvable by an editing pass to clear up some things and reduce others to simpler lists.

Good news at least is Conjure is still on the brain because it's fun to illustrate. I've also started work on a proper rules set for it to clear up things.

6mm has stalled, but that has a reminder to me every Sunday morning when I have a moment wishing I could play Captains in a sitting
