My town, growing in population, had 3+ years waiting list for an allotment. Instead of providing more space, their answer was to split allotment size to half plots. They solved their queue problem but now we have less space to grow in. Fewer flowers now sadly.

They will be fine! Get them in!

I don't like wood surrounds to my beds, they harbour slugs. Some folk make them work though. Good luck.

The level of your ground is too near the water table. If this was me, I would dig out paths to add to beds then fill path areas with wood chip. Also buy in topsoil and green waste compost to raise levels. Big investment which would pay off eventually.
