It’s a cliché at this point how eerily relevant Orwell’s dystopian fiction is to our era, but don’t sleep on his (humblingly voluminous!) essays and columns.

This actually understates the gap because Sliwa is running just behind Cuomo in most of the borough. Combined they’ve got 80+% of the Staten Island vote.

Apparently all you needed to do to predict the NYC election results was read that one N.K. Jemisin novel.

I mean, the fundamental problem here is that “teaching eighth grade algebra is racist” is ALREADY not a thing any significant faction of elected Dems are saying. But you cannot realistically ensure no local Dem official anywhere will have a crackpot idea, and turn into RW media’s kook of the week.

I’m sorry, why are we using “critics accuse” language here? These are factually, unambiguously, extrajudicial killings. It’s not an opinion. It’s not a disputed or disputable claim.

Not generally that interested in this set, but this is the most ingenious design I've seen from a flavor perspective in a long time. Jonah declares someone a "menace," then makes money when they attack.

Among myriad problems with this ruling, can we pause to appreciate the childlike naïveté exhibited by Cavanaugh on the barely-worth-mentioning inconvenience of being detained and interogated by ICE? We are approaching Plessy levels of obtuseness, or feigned obtuseness.

I’m generally not keen on generative AI for anything serious, but it is sort of delightful that my D&D character can easily have an “Avernus Trilogy” of albums.
