"There is something very concerning about the way the Government is seeking to justify its latest moves to weaken Green Belt protections."

Couldn't be clearer: this proposal is disproportionate, opportunistic, and Inappropriate.

It's an emphatic 'NO' to Taylor Wimpey in Normandy: 1 in favour; 18 undecided; 317 against. This is NOT an appropriate site for a large scale housing development.

Thanks, @thatstvofficial.bsky.social. The release of Green Belt land should be strategic, not opportunistic, and it shouldn't be driven by where a large developer just happens to have an interest. This proposal would destroy a precious habitat for no good reason.

That's TV Surrey on X: ""It is inappropriate and disproportionate" Plans to build 950 homes on farmland outside the village of Normandy have been outlined. That's TV heard from chair of the @NormandyAG Mike Aaronson who said the plans would have a "devastating impact" if approved. https://t.co/bhryuZpBDS" / X

Thanks, @surreylive.bsky.social for featuring this alarming story.
"Filling [the field in] with buildings will fundamentally and irrevocably change the nature of our community and our environment."
Several fields, actually: it's a 60 hectare site!

Plans for 950 homes in field could double the size of Surrey village
Taylor Wimpey has described the field as being part of the 'urban fringe'.

Really good letter on the ease with which developers can slide out of their commitments post planning approval. A plea to decision-makers:
"When the planning balance rests on undeliverable claims, refusal is not a gamble — it is sound and responsible governance."

Sunset, and mist, descending on Normandy's precious Green Belt. Hope this isn't a metaphor for future depredations from the dreaded volume builder who stalks us...

Spare us the yah-boo politics; let's have a responsible, cross-party consensus on what needs to be done to fix the housing crisis - without handing over the Green Belt to the volume builders.

Very good article in the Guildford Dragon about the @cprecountryside.bsky.social Petition - and a couple of letters in response. One of the latter letters (by NAG), with links to the other two pieces, is here: guildford-dragon.com/letter-we-ne...

These fields, which have helped feed thousands of people over the years, are the ones the developer wants to build over!

We've created this account to draw attention to the imminent threat to our community and our way of life posed by the plans of a major developer to build hundreds of houses on our precious Green Belt. We need your support!
