Never noticed this before probably just not that observant but this Oak tree was covered in epicormic growth - new shoots from dormant buds under the bark in response to stress! @lincswildlife.bsky.social

Spent the morning looking for Bird’s Nest fungus didn’t find any but did see these wonderful Coral fungi #fungi

I think this is the first Volucella inanis we’ve had in the garden - we usually get the zonaria either way theyre stunning insects
