Totally get where you're coming from and I would have been the same way but tried it out on Xbox game pass and ended up beating it multiple times. Very layered story with excellent voice acting

Man, I was absolutely the same way and never liked JRPG's at all but this game really hooks you without the annoying several hours of roaming around getting bored at the lore dumps. Immediately hooks you in the first 30 min and has an even more addicting combat style than Mario RPG.

If you're up for it you should really try Clair Obscure: Expedition 33. This game's soundtrack is an all timer.
