Hello from Santa Cruz 🌊☀️💙 It was a beautiful sunny day yesterday. Also we had very extreme low tide. It was just the perfect temp to be walking. It was interesting the foggy conditions stayed on th other side of the hill (Silicon Valley) while this time we had the sun.

My brother is visiting and although we grew up in San Mateo county he never visited Santa Cruz. Hard to imagine folks not exploring the county next to where they grew up but so often we are busy w/work it’s nice to take the time to enjoy retirement & appreciate the richness in California. Don’t wait

Yesterday was a sunny but windy stroll along Asilomar state beach that led us to the Inn at Spanish Bay - had a nice outdoor lunch

I’ve been thinking about the power of this museum. “In storytelling, historical irony gives a character’s perspective. It is a very specific type of situational irony. Since we've all been touched by nostalgia at some point in our lives, historical irony becomes a universal idea.” The EPIC captures♥️

The #EPIC museum’s storytelling immediately captures emigrants’ perspective right from the start. The premise? We all come from somewhere. Each room explores different aspects of Irish emigration & we are given passports to stamp. Emotional, & poignant esp. in today’s global political enviro.

America is no longer under “Full Democracy” it was ranked “Flawed Democracy”. The U.S. has remained a “flawed democracy” since 2016, ranking 28th out of 167 nations. Over the past year, its democracy score stood unchanged, at 7.9, which puts it below countries such as Canada, Japan, & Uruguay.

#NOAA I feel very suspect that whoever if monitoring your social has been silenced. I’m deeply appreciative of your work as I’ve been on your research vessels, providing safety to us mariners and to the marine ecosystem and marine species. Collecting minerals is contrary to your mission!

Why Protest? Highly sensitive nature of data accessed by DOGE, including financial records, SSNs, & security clearance info, means it could be misused, (for blackmail or ransomware).
👉Legal challenges have been filed to block DOGE’s access, but the extent of data already copied remains uncertain.

Some Metro Areas’ Population Gains Reversed COVID-19 Era Trends: While population in some metro areas has grown steadily this decade, others experienced a turnaround, as some metro areas that were declining are now growing.

Tonight, the first try of Coq au Vin in an Instant Pot. A little scared of it with all the steam & it sits very high on the counter so it was hard to cook. Results: meh, I’ll omit the maple syrup which made the dish too sweet🥴. I also tried finding pearl onions at two different stores but nope.

Walked 5.7 miles. Lots of kids around, must be Spring Break. I tried to avoid people; not my usual nature. I had a rough weekend, trying to push grief on an accelerated timeline by having a yard sale, but I guess it doesn’t work that way, forcing things. So today I went outside for a walk; forced 🥴
