Oh, and make sure to assign a texture / sprite to the node so it actually displays something.

Maybe try starting off with a template so you don't have to build everything from the ground up. I tested it with the Kenney FPS starter kit. It seems the billboard function is included in the "Sprite3D" Node, you just need to enable it in the "Flags" section in the inspector. Maybe this helps.

If you are going to try out the new #AffinityStudio and create a #Canva account make sure to check your #PersonalPrivacy settings here: www.canva.com/settings/pri...

Quite skeptical about this since after the acquisition Canva/Affinity "pledged" to always offer a perpetual license.

This overview makes it quite useful to pic and check up on the principles most useful to your situation.

As a bonus I would also throw in these too because they are a collection of principles that are broadly applicable but very useful. "Universal Principles ..." has a handy overview of which principles to apply when faces with a certain problem. But very easy to read in portions.

"Rules of Play - Game Design Fundamentals" by Eric Zimmerman and Katie Salen is by far the hardest to read and I would never recommend it as an entry point. It's very much written on an academic level, in a positive way. I found especially the chapter on games as systems most helpful.

"Game Feel - A Game Designers Guide to Virtual Sensation" by Steve Swink is one of the mostly practically applicable one. It goes beyond having to come up with ideas and putting into words to how your mechanics actually translate into what is going on in the computer without having to write code.

"The Art of Game Design - A Book of Lenses" by Jesse Schell. He builds a conceptual map of how the game designer to the design process creates a game with which the player interacts through an interface to evoke a certain experience. Also add these handy "lenses" to use during the design process.

"A Theory of Fun for Game Design" by Raph Koster. It's at max a weekend read. Always has one page with text the other one with one of his personal illustrations. Very good primer on "fun" and general psychology to keep in mind when designing a game.

Porco Rosso - Studio Ghibli (1992). Never a bad time to share this. Put seems particularly important at this time. #PorcoRosso #Ghibli #Fascists

I just learned on the existence of "Heat Vision & Jack" and I think you should too. It's the pilot for a TV show Ben Stiller produced in 1999. Dan Harmon and Rob Schraber (who both work on Rick and Morty) wrote the Episode and it definitely shows. You can watch it on Youtube: youtu.be/6lWgXDOAJ5s

These were some of the results I was able to achieve after doing a b/w pass on the original image and the doing a "trace bitmap" in InkScape. I totally get that manually tracing can be a nice process. But this might speed up the process if needed

Another post on #GameDevResources. Moby Games is basically the IMDB of video games. You can find historical data of what has been released. Credits for video games. Information on game developers and their development history. I don't check it daily, but regularly! www.mobygames.com

While it not really being explicitly stated on the page the campaign being a "partial funding" project it seems like it judging from this phrasing on the project page. I am fine with the campaign being either, just wasn't sure what it was. Still hope it will collect it's goal #Inshallah

Today I want to highlight 3 books published between 2009-2011 by Carnegie Mellon University. The Well Played series has strongly influenced my thinking about games and game design when I started pursuing it professionally and moved to Berlin. I highlighted some of the articles that stood out to me.

Even it's already 10 years old the "Pixel Perfect Precision Handbook" (v.3) from @ustwo-studios.bsky.social is still an amazing resource. The principles also apply to other tools and not just Photoshop. Grab the comprehensive 214 page PDF. #Resources #GraphicDesign #UsTwo

One thing I miss about game magazines are the beautiful covers. Sadly Raspberry Pi Press doesn't publish the "Wireframe Magazine" anymore. But luckily they can still the accessed on archive.org/details/wire...

One of my favorite websites is "Mountain of Ink". It has gorgeous examples of inks and pens. They have collections by color or brand, check on the right side of the page for these categories. mountainofink.com
