Our new study on Cunonieae (Cunoniaceae) shows the group originated ~56 Ma in Antarctica & Patagonia. As ice took over, they spread via Zealandia/Oceania & Patagonia, later diversifying in the Andes, Madagascar & New Caledonia.

New Red List assessments!
As part of the @IUCN_Ecuador Plant Specialist Group’s work, we’ve updated the status of 7 Berberis species endemic to Ecuador—4 now listed as Endangered or Vulnerable.
