Quilter, Duran Duran fan, nature lover. “Now the fireball burns, we go round together, as the planet turns into the light “
Love Van Gogh’s “Starry Night,” so I guess that was in my head as I worked through this cross stitch piece.

The center is a quilt block pattern that I used in a previous piece. I liked it so much that I used it as the starter for this one, and worked outward from there.

Aww, thanks! Small pieces like these are so satisfying-you get to see the results quicker!

I always check out other’s aquariums - just finished weekly cleaning on my 36 gal. - guppies, tetras & plastic plants 🤣 - nothing like your beauties! But still relaxing to watch!

Two children’s quilts for Quilts For Kids. This organization sends small comfort quilts to children in hospitals, disaster areas, & other needed locations. Great way to use up scraps, & also good excuse to make more quilts! 😜

I bought these two frames at a thrift shop - one is inlaid marquetry, the other is a unique metal design. They inspired these cross stitch pieces.

Latest cross stitch composition - since I also quilt, I started with a quilt block that had some interesting motion to it, then worked out from there. And quilters will recognize some flying geese, too!

Two row quilts for www.quiltsforkids.org I like row quilts both for another way of using up bits, and also the for variety of blocks you can decide to use.

Trying another “freestyle” crosstitch. Went with a marine theme. Inspired by works of Esther van Ardenne.

Scrappy quilt for www.quiltsforkids.org I accumulate leftover bits and sew them together (before the pile gets too out of hand 😜), then sew to form 6.5” squares, then assemble those into rows when I have enough squares. It gets addicting sometimes! 😁

One more simple quilt pattern that looks good on modern quilts like yours -

Then best to keep the pattern simple. I’ve made a cardboard template and chalked these wavy lines before. Simpler is less frustrating. Also does not have be perfect. 😊

Latest cross stitch - I started with the center I’d seen in a piece, then built outward until I reached the desired width. Kept thinking of an art teacher acquaintance who always stressed the importance of “repetition and variation.”
