Nevermore Haunt in Baltimore.

When the haunted house is more relaxing than reading the news. (Not for lack of them trying)

For his sake, please stop dropping chicken bones, wing pieces or chicken skewers where dogs can easily find them!
Certainly a better trained dog would just drop — or leave — them. This guy 👇isn‘t so restrained & still deserves to stay healthy.

Decades ago an experienced law prof suggested starting a new venture when teaching 1Ls, to replicate the feelings of ignorance & confusion. Great advice, not just at the start of the academic year. And so we took up orienteering — humbling at times (w/o a sense of direction) but a great experience.

Yesterday, @shanekahenson.bsky.social was sworn in as a Maryland state senator. She becomes the first African-American woman to represent Anne Arundel County in the senate. It was a heart-warming event. I appreciated her comments about the role of family in one's success. Spot on.

New Year’s resolution: surprise yourself.

We had a marvelous time at the Lafayette Ball, held @stjohnsgreatbooks.bsky.social Who knew we’d enjoy early 19th century dancing (and would get excited about celebrating Lafayette’s 1824 visit to Annapolis)? We aren’t quite ready for the era attire yet 😉

At St John’s, we recently hosted Remica Bingham-Risher who read from her latest, powerful book.

With poetry every word counts. Poems are powerful & create strong emotional connections & responses. And poetry isn’t an elite enterprise — but sometimes it takes a great poet to make that obvious.
