If I truly enjoyed what I did and felt fulfilled, that was simply a guilty pleasure.
I did not feel comfortable feeling taken care of as a whole person, therefore I completely disregarded my internal signals at jobs.

Because of this lop-sided, performance driven agenda, I grew up internalizing a secondary message that the only kind of "work" that counted was work that drained me dry.
