. . .pay a 100% tax on the excess over $400,000--in my example, pay $9,600,000 tax on the privilege of paying $10 million to your pampered employee. That would raise badly needed revenue for the US Treasury, but also discourage the outsize salaries so prevalent these days.

I propose that we assess a tax on any employer who pays an employee more than $400,000 a year. That's what the US President earns for what is arguably the job with the greatest responsibility in the world. So if you want to pay your corporate CEO $10 million, go ahead. But pay a 100% tax on. . .

The children of my friend Carole, 92 in February, put on a series of receptions for her over the past 4 days. Although she is in the late stages of dementia, she enjoyed the "celebration of life" that took place before her passing, rather than after. How can we keep from singing?!
