Voter's views don't exist in a vaccuum. Centrists trying to align a platform with opinions shaped by an elaborate right wing propoganda ecosystem will only succeed in chasing a moving target further to the right.
The report has no answer to the media ownership problem. It doesn’t even raise it as a question. It includes pages upon pages bemoaning the Democratic Party’s messaging woes, without ever considering that the problem might be that its opponents have access to much larger megaphones.

So who does this put the Times in league with? Much like its coverage of trans youth, it's helpful to look around and see who else is pushing the same line of coverage. It’s hard-right ideology laundered as legitimate journalistic inquiry. [Highlight] The article's print edition on Sunday ran under the title "Mamdani Faces Scrutiny Over College Application." From who? For what? The Times clearly doesn't feel all that interested in answering these questions, other than its providing cover for fascistic ideologues. [End highlight] The Times is coordinating with people whose work is actively eroding what's left of America's attempts at racial equity.

That should be next week, and then we'll start passing information on it, affecting the plan, making sure it's rolling down the road, and then we'll start doing steady state operations. But I can give you a peek into something. We are going to write, and I don't know if you've ever done this before. We are going to write essentially a 2026 to 2030 strategy that covers that, so that we can have some consistency across time. That in particular, I think is what helps an organization, if you can write a strategy for that far out. Of course, at CWMD, we're going to write one for 2040, but it's a little bit different because we have to develop capability and that type of thing. This is essentially how we would see the organization evolving and getting better over time. Have you done that before?

Dem Attorneys General spent the last year preparing strategy for a potential Trump 2.0. We need long term strategy from dem leadership that goes beyond simply winning the next election.
Having chosen, over the previous weeks and months, not to take elemental political steps to prepare for the eventuality he and his colleagues were presented with last Friday, Schumer’s contention that Democrats were faced with no good options had a curious ring of truth. They left themselves with no good options, then justified their surrender on the ground that there were no good options. In announcing the Democratic cave, Schumer emphasized the parade of horribles that would ensue if the government shut down. He asserted that a shutdown would have given Trump and his cronies license to do great damage to the government. Schumer’s argument was both somewhat true, but also absurd. On one hand, it’s all but certain that Trump would have tried to leverage a shutdown to further his nefarious ends. But on the other, as the past two months have made clear, Trump does not need a shutdown to destroy the country. Put otherwise, Schumer and his colleagues voted to give Trump license to do just what Schumer was warning against.

When Papen was unable to obtain a parliamentary majority to govern, his opponents among President Hindenburg's advisers forced him to resign. His successor, General Kurt von Schleicher, dissolved the Reichstag again. In the ensuing elections in November 1932, the Nazis lost ground, winning 33.1 percent of the vote. The Communists, however, gained votes, winning 16.9 percent. As a result, the small circle around President Hindenburg came to believe, by the end of 1932, that the Nazi party was Germany's only hope to forestall political chaos ending in a Communist takeover. Nazi negotiators and propagandists did much to enhance this impression.

Yes, the US government is using tattoos, sometimes nothing more than a name, a date, or even a tribute to a favorite athlete, as justification to label migrants as “gang-affiliated” and ship them off to Guantánamo Bay. Take Luis Castillo, a 23-year-old Venezuelan asylum seeker, who was detained at the border and later sent to Guantánamo simply because he had a Michael Jordan tattoo.
