It’s a dull and dreary day today here, so my son and I are cooking up a storm of comfort food!

I don’t know about yall, but I have to keep my hands busy and have projects which actually can be completed. My current project is a vintage brass umbrella stand. I am rescuing her from rust and dust.

After a hard time with my taking care of my Uncle in his final months, I decided to go to every Donna the Buffalo show I could get to. No regrets!! Last show of this year for me coming up soon, taking my mom. Spent mornings chasing waterfalls while going to shows.

Billy was my first friend at Carlton Street Stables. He made me feel welcome, and we had some fantastic adventures and laughs. His two best friends pictured here, Gready and Pete, and Pepper, hauled both horses to the hospital after Billy got his new kidney. It was beautiful.

Good morning and happy Monday, all!

I don’t take my phone to the barn unless I think I might get into trouble and need to make a call - which is never - because we are owned by the best and most quiet horses and ponies. But the purpose of this life of being owned cannot be overstated. See you in the morning, Bella!

Sames. After some hours in the barn. Still settling. I had a protein bar. Going to give it ten minutes and if I’m still hungry have something else. If I’m good, sleep ensues.

I know he has settled cases out of court which have involved young boys. There was a meme floating around a while back with the settlement details. Found it.

The timeline is whack, but I had a great ride this morning, farrier is here to do trims, shoes, and kindly sharpen my sword. Stay focused, my good friends. Whatever it takes - riding, resting, swashbuckling…

This was one of the other finds this week at the auction house. This is a replica sword made in India. I love it!!

I always wanted a sword, not gonna lie.

I have a friend who will get it sharp and then yes, I will practice swordsmanship.

She is a Four Winds pipe. You can see the four circles, which represent the four directions, and the pipe itself is carved from Catlinite, Pipestone, Minnesota is its origin.

I did a deep dive on research, another hobby of mine! These brief AI (sorry!) descriptions were a good hint, initially.

“Standing Eagle” was the artist. Ah, now we have something to look up!
George “Standing Eagle” Bryan was an Ojibwe multigenerational quarrier and pipe carver.

1906-1985 he was a mainstay at the National Park that held the quarry. He told stories, and taught others to carve.

A quick story.

My hobby is refinishing and renewing antiques. I frequent a local auction for inspiration and new pieces.

Last week, I saw a Sacred Pipe mounted to a horrid dusty old backing. This pipe had power. It didn’t belong where it was.

I sent a message to a friend about it.

The Goddess Chairs and the Ceremonial Grape Hod are finished. Very happy with these projects!

So much happening in the world, blessed are the small, busy tasks which turn into beautiful spaces.

If you’re in the DMV, or on The Shore, my colleague, Amber, and I are offering a women’s retreat on October 11, hope you can make it.

What it actually is is an 1820’s Ceremonial Harvest Grape Hod. It will have straps when finished. Somewhere in history is likely a vintage label matching the motif. It is French. #Wine
