I enjoy using recycled, repurposed, and vintage materials to create useful items while hanging out with my herdy things, Shaak Ti and Danté!
What a difference 2 months makes! Ohio looks like a little cat now and not so much like an awkward potato. ❤️❤️

I have switched gears from sewing to knitting. I have found a lot of old WIPs among the things I had in storage. Some, I remember what they were supposed to be so there is a queue to be finished. Others will be frogged. None of it is easy with Ohio and Arizona around!

I am wearing my favorite hoodie while drinking coffee with two high octane kittens who have finished their nap zooming around. The odds are not in my favor! 😂

Took the morning for a nice walk and some Geocaching with my buddy, Danté. We logged a DNF (did not find) and he seems confused by our failure! 😂😂 Sorry, buddy!

No, Mokey. I wasn't knitting or anything. Make yourself comfortable!

Noodle has not been feeling well. It appears that her vision has diminished to probably only seeing shapes and shadows. She also might have tweaked a hip. Today she felt well enough to eat half a chicken breast and warm rice though. That's good! Any small improvement is awesome! (Pic from October)

73 pouches came back with vinyl decoration. Drawstrings have been added to 148 pouches total. The kittens made it very challenging to say the least!

It looks like the filler items probably won't arrive in time though thanks to delays. 🤦‍♀️ Ready for next year I guess! 🤷‍♀️

How is a person supposed to be productive when this is happening in the chair beside them?!

Danté loves his baby kitties and Arizona particularly loves snuggling with him!

Some of a... The ink from the fabric marker I purchased is supposed to last 24-48 hours. I marked these 4 hours ago. Took a break to go to the store, came home, cooked cranberry sauce and dinner, aaaand yeah. 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️ Hoping ironing brings it back so I don't have to start over again!

Things are hard. My mental state is not good. I have been funneling all my pain and sadness into sewing again. So far, Arizona and Ohio (and Mokey who says "No photos please") have "helped" me make 149 drawstring pouches for the Herky Christmas parade on December 4th.
November 23, 2025 at 1:13 PM
Oh, Ohio! You are adorable but you are nowhere near as helpful as you think you are! 😂 He has "helped" me make 44 drawstring pouches out of half a duvet cover that I feel is too flannel-ish to be tote bag liners. They still need strings.

A couple times a year, I end up sewing batches of things for work. Last year, I spent three days sewing dozens of grooming table covers (made from recycled bed sheets!). A few months ago it was bandannas and collar scrunchies. The Christmas sewing has begun with 21 scrunchie collar covers!

Added hanging tabs to two new butterflies. I wanted the white fabric facing out but ironed and folded the wrong way. Oops! But oh well. It works!

The butterfly is stupid cute but snuggly Arizona and Ohio are even cuter! Even if they are detrimental to progress! 🥰

Butterfly, now with elastic: Too freaking cute!!

Danté: *no thoughts, only vibes*

I love this dog so much! 😂🥰

What have I been up to today? Making corner bookmarks! Larger are 4" and the smaller are 3".

Could have been more productive but certain little baby kitties keep using me for warmth. They are not fans of the dropping temps! 😂

Hey look! Now the butterfly has a head!
This one is made from old denim, a scrap of fabric leftover from a tote bag, and a bead. Future butterflies will have elastic backs to be collar accessories at work and tabs for rings so they can be key chains or bag charms. I think. Maybe. 😅

Well, I ironed where I shouldn't have ironed but that's okay. A little spritz of water eases the crease. And a shirt scrap has become a butterfly! Needs a little pearl bead for a "head" but I think they will become new collar accessory options for work! Arizona, however, has questions. 😅

Planned to be a little more productive today but oh well. Turned Hawaiian shirt bits and ice dyed sheet pieces into two coin/card pouches and a dog waste bag holders along with the jean scrap little pouches. Gave them all snaps and therefore we go!
October 7, 2025 at 2:29 AM
Attempted a smaller pouch project just for something simple. Made them too small/flap too short. Oops! Still cute. Still useful. They just need snaps but Ohio has learned he can climb into my chair and therefore my lap for snuggles.

Experimented with recycling a thrifted Hawaiian shirt today. Now, it is a slightly wonky tote bag! That's okay though. It will be used by me. And mental notes will improve the next one! (I need to sewing a few buttons back on too.)

Well, I'm back. I disappeared for a hot minute. Life got really bad. Depression hit super hard. Now, I am back to sewing! I recently made about 2 dozen dog poop bag holders to sell at work. I also rescued two tiny kittens while Geocaching. Anyone in the St. Louis area looking for kittens? 😅

Super fiddly due to the small size but success! Replaced the strap with two D-rings. It can now be clipped to a belt, put on a shoulder strap, or turned into a hip bag. Woot!
April 15, 2025 at 12:35 AM
Got a really cute second hand bag today with the intention of it being used for Geocaching. I thought it was bigger. Pretty sure it is a kid's bag as the strap is only 27 inches fully let out. The plan now is to remove the strap, add metal D-rings, and turn it into a fanny pack type deal.

That's...not what I had envisioned... My "bunny" foot mop is very...ummm...weird. 😅 I will have to go back to the drawing board for the pattern.

On a different notes, the heavy duty machine works great now that I have the hang of adjusting it!
