Can we be sure the information of people operating in sensitive environments is safe?

I don't hate this country, but I'm not sure a country can consider itself great if it has to lie and omit history in order to do so. And patriotism is not the same as blind loyalty.

segregation, internment camps, treatment of the Native Americans, and many other literal historical facts. Watch for changes occurring at federally funded museums and national parks, too.

Pair this with language in another EO about education, wherein any teaching that puts America in a bad light will not be allowed if a school receives federal funding (as in, all schools). There is a great deal of risk that this will be interpreted as no longer being able to teach about slavery,

Or "we don't want to be forced to celebrate anything."

The message to be taken from that is, "we think it is wasteful to spend any money celebrating the vast accomplishments of people who are not able-bodied white men."

Example: the outrage over it getting out that agencies have "paused" observances of certain holidays and minority celebrations. So he releases an EO on Black History month. And commenters come out of the woodwork to defend this saying, "he only wants to stop wasteful government spending"

If there's enough outrage, they'll pull back a little. Rescind an EO or two because it was "misinterpreted" or come out with a new one that on the surface makes them seem more reasonable.

You think facts shouldn't be reported if they might make people angry? Wow. Thanks for letting us know you believe that.

I really do appreciate your advice to ignore posts from arrogant people who believe they are always right, though.

Have a nice day.

What was there for him to be right about? Was it arrogant simply to post it? I'll leave open the possibility that this person's other posts indicate they think they have all the answers, but this was just factual. But what do I know? I'm no longer a moderate.

Did we read the same initial post? All I see is him literally posting a picture of a memo and giving a brief summary, stating a few holidays whose observances have been suspended (the memo said paused, but there does appear to be a difference in usage based on the rest of the memo).

Just curious, are you advocating for this same attitude over on X?

And you have every right to your opinions about what people should and should not do. Even a right to share them. I hope you're getting what you need out of these interactions.
January 29, 2025 at 11:25 PM
I never said you didn't know or understand. You are the one that said most people do not. So the hate and division is the fault of the person sharing the memo? Should we only ever share and react to things that directly affect ourselves? And would the Republicans agree to that, too?
January 29, 2025 at 10:40 PM
There is no indication on that memo that it is classified, and there would be numerous indicators, if it was. And Trump would be proud of this, anyway, so why would he want to hide it?

Watch, next they'll come up with events to celebrate Columbus Day - probably the closest thing they have currently to a "white man holiday." Which is interesting given the history of Italians not always being considered "white."

Given the ability to look anything up in seconds, what does that say about "most people"? Seems like good evidence for ignorance being a choice. Not knowing or understanding something has become a very strange flex for some.
January 29, 2025 at 9:58 PM
I'm sure I've left some things off the list.

But to summarize, I think it's pretty clear that there are way too many people involved in our government, who will likely have access to classified material, who would have difficulty legitimately getting a clearance.

This'll end well, for sure.
