I think it was a good idea to leave it for now. Given the apprehension the Digimon fandom often has for new works, especially the games, the words of the devs could be read as excuses, it could have built negativity for TS reception before people had the chance to decide if they liked it or not.

With many of the attempts seemingly coming from an individual desire of each project to do so, instead of mandatory company policy of how to manage the franchise. Even if many things seem to have gotten better in this front since 2017.

But as much as I hate to compare both franchises, I do believe in this point it's a good comparison and contrast to observe. There is a strong sense that the different parts of the franchise are not working and communicating as much as they could together.

This just shows that to get certain things well known among the wider parts of fandom a lot of consistent, memorable and resonant work must be made to have such an effect.

Despite the fact that when compared to Toei/Bandai, TPCi does a much better job at unifying their materials, or at least having brand consistency, and yet many ideas or concepts already explicitly in the games don't actually seep fully into the fandom general knowledge.

Consider Pokemon, which has also a huge amount of settings, lore and information that not always make its way into the general fandom awareness and consciousness.

Said that, I would say much of the lore present in the Digimon Encyclopedia still hasn't made its way explicitly and loudly in adaptations, or hasn't been explored with the right focus to properly convey it to the fandom.

Digimon Survive definitely helped in this regard as well, and I consider it a success by Habu Kazumasa in introducing these ideas that the fandom wasn't actually aware were part of the franchise in such explicit manner.

I would say the settings related to the ideas Hiroyuki Kakudō had for the Digimon Adventure side of the franchise - many of which found their way in some form in other Digimon works - have definitely seeped more into the fandom awareness than before.
