If you played the original Fallout games by Interplay/Black Isle, then New Vegas feels a lot closer to that than Bethesda's, both in tone and gameplay.

There are also a lot people who are *still* mad that Bethesda got the rights to series, and they never shut up about it.

...given the inevitably of said conflicts ("War never changes.") In Fallout 2, for example, the player is constantly across various conflicts, which can be resolved in any number of ways, either by violence or more peaceful methods.
