Speak first, ask questions later. Trump has demonstrated the public doesn't mind gaffes and missteps.

Dems are still message testing the J6 pardons meanwhile the right is on to concentration camps and minorities causing plane crashes. It's maddening watching this unfold.

Who is the deputy secretary of defense that will actually be running things?
January 25, 2025 at 3:29 AM
That's going to require stepping on the toes of The Groups. Comms on the left are paralyzed by a fear of saying something that angers some progressive constituency, so everything is canned. Voters can sense the lack of authenticity. Walz broke out with his weird comments and was then muzzled.

They're too busy watching tuna melt videos

This mindset is the problem! I don't want to defend rights, I want to expand them. That can't be done when even the mild critique of "Hey, the overly earnest way this is being gone about is alienating people" gets this response. We need winning electoral coalitions, and this won't accomplish that.

This segment of the party overly earnested so hard that Trump won the popular vote. Can there be any self-reflection about that? Maybe dial it back to just earnest instead of overly earnest? Or keep scolding people, I guess. It's worked great so far.

Opposition to equal opportunity among a slice of the right going back to the 1960s. However, it was the overreach with DEI programs and the switch from equality to equity over the last decade that let it go mainstream. Need to refocus on incremental gains rather than sweeping societal change.

Part of that defense is going to have to be separating out the freedom for people to say and post what they want from the algorithms that decide what speech gets promoted. The latter should be regulated to minimize promotion of emotionally manipulative content meant to maximize engagement.

Social media feels ancient because it accelerates the news cycle, but it's only been around for 10 to 15 years. It's not just politics but dating as well that's been upended. Over the next 50 to 100 years we'll develop defenses, but it sucks to be stuck in this moment of upheaval.

This looks awful. PS5 cut scenes in video games are better.

Can we send him some stickum or pine tar to help with the drops?

You could've said the same about healthcare until UHC's CEO was assassinated. That vented a lot of pent up anger about a healthcare system that is unnecessarily complicated and capricious. The economy feels extractive today from housing to healthcare to streaming services. People are fed up.

Trump and MAGA are responsible for their actions yes.

Dems have every right to be upset with what happened though. DC is a small town and the DNC and press had to know Biden wasn't capable of running again. People feel betrayed and misled, and that shouldn't be ignored.

This is true, but people's expectations aren't static and have increased along with overall well-being. And the main pain points today, which are the costs of housing, vehicles, healthcare, and higher education, are all the things that symbolize success.
